Drum & Bugle Competition 2009 Chicago Public Schools, Department of JROTC cadets established which unit in the “Musical Giant” by showcasing their talents for the Citywide Drum & Bugle competition. Only the top teams who have been selected by their respective programs were able to compete. The winners were:
Group A (Band) 1st Place-Rickover Naval Academy 2nd Place-Chicago Military Academy |

Military Schools & JROTC Sports Challenge
Chicago Public Schools, Department of JROTC cadets established bragging rights in their individual physical fitness program by showcasing their performance for the annual Citywide Sports Challenge. The Sports Challenge is designed to empower and offer opportunities for the cadets in healthy, fun and competitive activities.

Chicago Public Schools, Department of JROTC was well represented by Hubbard JROTC and Chicago Military Academy at the welcoming of the International Olympic Committee, on Sunday, April 5, 2009, and Douglass Park. Both JROTC programs received many laudatory remarks from the committee members and onlookers for their prowess with rifle and drill routines.

Taft NJROTC Receives Prestigious Award Taft’s NJROTC Academy was presented the Navy League Award for being the most outstanding unit in their seven states, fifty-school area. This also means that the NJROTC Unit is one of the top 11 of 623 units worldwide.Taft’s Cadet Battalion Commander receives the Award and then Passes it to Taft’s Principal, Ed.D Arthur Tarvardian.

Cadets in the Color Guard are Cadet LTC Nicholes Pagan, Cadet CSM Dezmond Mayfield, Cadet MAJ Brian Flores, and Cadet SFC Alice Huertas |
